MBIT is a PDA based ruggedized potable terminal, which provides situational awareness and mission planning capabilities for field commanders.
MBIT features a 400-megahertz Intel XScale processor, a high sensitive
16-channel
GPS receiver, a 3.5-inch color liquid crystal display screen, 64 megabytes
of synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM) and RF data communication module which is able to communicate with other MBIT without any fixed communication infrastructure.

Thanks to very sophisticated RF data communication capability, various network topologies can be implemented including peer to peer, point to point and point to multipoint. RF module utilizes frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) communication that delivers additional protection against interference. A very good feature of MBIT is ad-hoc communication capability.
Using this capability, MBIT can make self healing, self configuring
robust tactical data communication network.
